Blacktown Chinese Christian Church Inc. (BCCC) takes the privacy of individuals seriously and is committed to protecting the personal information we collect and hold. By visiting our website bccc.org.au, attending events, worship services, cell groups or activities, using our services, or providing us with your personal information, you agree that your information will be handled as described in this policy.

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities as a church community.

We will primarily collect personal information directly from you, unless it is unreasonable or impracticable to do so. This occurs when you:

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information we hold from misuse, interference, and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Information is held securely in password-protected IT systems or in secure physical storage with access restricted to authorised personnel. We destroy or de-identify personal information when it is no longer needed for any legal or business purpose.

We collect personal information to carry out the mission and administrative functions of our church. Our purposes include: 

  • Providing pastoral care and ministry services.

  • Administering church programs, events, and communications.

  • Processing donations and issuing tax receipts.

  • Maintaining community records and a church directory.

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable people in our programs (e.g., through background checks).

  • Meeting legal requirements (e.g., mandatory reporting). 

 

We will not use or disclose your personal information for a secondary purpose unless we have your consent or the use/disclosure is required or permitted by law. 

 

4. Anonymity and Pseudonymity

You have the option to not identify yourself or to use a pseudonym when dealing with us if it is lawful and practicable. For example, you may attend services anonymously or make a general enquiry without providing personal details. However, this may limit our ability to provide specific services or communicate with you directly. 

 

5. Disclosure to Overseas Recipients

Blacktown Chinese Christian Church Inc. is unlikely to disclose your personal information to overseas recipients. If this changes, we will update this policy and specify the countries where recipients are likely to be located.

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, or have a concern about our information handling practices, you may lodge a complaint by contacting our Privacy Officer using the details below. 

We will investigate the complaint and respond to you in writing within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) or the Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC NSW).
